It is positive that not only the scientist but also the human Marie Curie is shown.

Nice to have seen once, but I've been annoyed several times by the irritating main character.

Rosamund Pike is definitely one of my top favorite actresses. A movie with her in it is interesting in advance. And then as subject Mme Curie. Can't go wrong.

Well anyway. Satrapi deserves the Nobel Prize for the blunder for this tinkering. It starts nicely, but then the flash-forwards come - because the importance of Curie's work must be explained if necessary so that even the stupidest zombie understands what it is about. And even if that explanation doesn't make sense at all in the context of the story - because it would only be discovered much later how exactly it works. And then there are some unclear, unproven and probably made up facts...

As often really pisses me off, even now the question is again - why didn't Satrapi just stick to reality? that story is many times stronger and more impressive than what she is showing now. There's enough fake news and mediocre bumbling in the world already, we really don't need any more of that. Would rather have taken an example from the real Mme Curie - she wasn't satisfied with half measures either.

Reasonable film about Marie Curie who makes a discovery together with her husband at the beginning of the last century. A fascinating piece of scientific history, but not equally fascinatingly worked out everywhere. The film tries to tell too much. Here and there quite atmospheric portrayed and the music is also appropriate. Certainly comparable to the equally unsuccessful biopic Tesla.
