Mahalia plot
Mahalia Jackson is a successful dark singer from New Orleans. She started singing at a young age and is referred to by many as 'the queen of gospel'. In the 1940s she meets the Reverend Russell, who immediately falls for her. She experienced the pinnacle of her singing career in 1963 during a mass demonstration against racial discrimination at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington.
