Hell and Mr. Fudge plot
"A little story about a big lie"
Edward Fudge is the pastor of a small, deeply religious community. The son of a respected church leader with conservative views, Edward is convinced that what the Bible teaches is the truth. Someone wants to hire Edward for a bizarre project. He wants Edward to investigate Hell. As a theologian, he finds the project intriguing and so agrees, not knowing where it will lead. He decides to take a year to study hell and soon his life is turned upside down. His own church fires him and his publisher no longer wants to work with him. And then his faith in God and ideas about judgment and eternity also turn out to be less unshakable than expected.
