Gierek plot
Edward Gierek is one of the most important figures of the 20th century in the collective memory of the Polish people. A film about a man with a breakthrough in the history of Poland. The story takes place in the years 1970-1982, when Edward Gierek becomes first secretary of the Central Committee of the PZPR (Central Committee of the Polish United Workers' Party) until his internment. One gets a picture of Edward Gierek behind the scenes of his political power. Family relationships that have never seen the light of day are an essential part of this story.

Well, Gierek is hyped up a little bit in this film. He personally talks to the dissatisfied workers and introduces economic reforms (financed with foreign loans, which led to the economic crisis of the 1980s). Yes, even a fictional nuclear program unbeknownst to Moscow. The family relationships confirm this image of a dedicated patriot and politician who had the best interests of his country and people at heart. Well compared to the state of siege under Jaruzelski, a positive view of Gierek is perhaps not entirely surprising.
Despite this caveat, it is an interesting film.
