Excellent animation film full of postmodern jokes, witty dialogues and breathtaking animation. Just a shame about those cringe-inducing bad songs. Despite those drawbacks, it is highly recommended.

3.5 stars.

Very disappointing Dreamworks after the also not great Prince of Egypt. The jokes are sometimes nice, but the story is not exciting or interesting and the songs are downright worthless.

1.5*.

According to my girlfriend, I resemble Miguel (in looks and demeanor!), while Tulio would similarly look very much like a friend of mine. With this information in mind, the film was a very enjoyable sequence of funny moments, mainly due to the excellent voice acting and dialogue from Kenneth Branagh and Kevin Kline. The film may not go really deep anywhere, the animations are very nice, there are sometimes even more daring things for these kinds of films (erotic undertones, blood and references to mass murders) and it all comes together the never stop filming.

Downsides can be found in the horrible lyrics that the songs have this time, something I'm not used to from Elton John. Not that this has a very big effect on the enjoyment of the film, it could just be better.

Entertaining movie. With terrible songs and mediocre animation. And then that cursed CGI in it. I like really traditional animation more. There's nothing wrong with drawing, all still nicely hand-drawn, but that drawing style is a bit strange. Jeffrey Katzenberg with his weird ideas. and then he thinks it's weird that Roy Disney and Ron Miller don't want to make his movies. Decent but adequate.

This is a cartoon that gets better the more you watch it. It is of course not new, 2 sympathetic crooks who are after gold, but after a while realize that this is not the only thing that is important in life. Enjoyed this movie very much, I can't really think of anything I didn't like.
