Shchelkunchik plot
Sometime in the 1800s, wealthy families celebrate Christmas. A young maid observes their vacation. After the holidays, she finds a neglected nutcracker under the Christmas tree while cleaning up. She pities the Nutcracker, whereupon it comes to life and tells the maid about his past.
