A somewhat eccentric update of the stop-motion children's series from the 1980s (known in Dutch as Pieter Post, with the voice by the unsurpassed Marnix Kappers) that leaned on the nostalgia for life in the British countryside, where everyone knows each other and the hustle and bustle of modern life is far away. That nostalgia is still present in this animated version in the form of the village, its residents and especially Postman Pat himself, who still puts the best interests of his family and his friends above all else. But the modern world is coming very close, initially mainly because the friendly postman decides to audition for a talent show (with judge Simon Cowbell), really only because he can win tickets for the dream trip to Italy that he and his wife have had for so long. want to undertake. Pat turns out to be an excellent singer, but his success keeps him away from home a lot. His boss sees an opportunity to make some radical modernizations in the mail delivery business and the father of Pat's competitor does everything he can to ruin Pat's chances.

The story doesn't quite tie in with the spirit of the original series, but director Mike Disa makes things worse by peppering the plot with wild slapstick. noisy action and campy characters that seem to come from another animation universe. But Postman Pat himself nevertheless stands proud as a character and still gives this film a soul, making it acceptable viewing material for young and old. But fans of the original series will have to swallow...

Still a great movie for the kids. As a very small man I already watched Pieter post. Now I show it to my daughters 4 and 2. And they like it too. This movie is icing on the cake for the little ones. May only a few more come
