Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise plot

Palau, 1944. Tamaru, a timid manga artist, is one of thousands of Japanese soldiers tasked with defending the island of Peleliu against a massive American attack. When a large portion of his company is killed in a doomed mission, Tamaru and other survivors retreat to the island's interior, where they remain for nearly two years, unaware that the war is long over.
