L'Homme Qui Plantait des Arbres plot
The narrator, a hiker in the French Alps in 1913, encounters a shepherd while taking shelter. The shepherd has set himself the goal of restoring the ecosystem in that area by planting a forest with his own hands. Years later, the narrator returns and beholds the shepherd's result, which is a calming contrast to the two world wars that have raged in the meantime.
