The One Year War between the Federation and Zeon begins to draw to a close in the year UC 0080. As the forces of both sides prepare for the final decisive battles, a new Gundam is being developed behind the scenes by the Federation. A group of Zeon commandos has been chasing this Gundam for some time now. After a failed attempt to destroy the Gundam on Earth, they follow the trail to the neutral colony of Side Six. Inexperienced Zeon pilot Bernie is shot down during an attack on Side Six and there he meets Al, a ten-year-old boy. After Bernie is rescued by another Zeon pilot, Bernie is transferred to the special commando team that is after the new Gundam, returning him to the Side Six. Girl next door, Christina MacKenzie, is then assigned as the test pilot of the new Gundam for the Federation. In the days that follow, these three lives are completely turned upside down by the war.
