Katak, le Brave Béluga plot

"You don't need to big to be brave."

Katak is a young beluga dolphin that grows more slowly than its average counterpart. He is small and his skin is still gray instead of the white of the adults, so he is not allowed to swim with the men. To prove that he is an adult and to fulfill his grandmother's dying wish, Katak sets out on a dangerous journey to the Great North.

Concerns the English spoken version.

Because Katak [Robert Naylor] has still not turned white – the sign of adulthood – he reluctantly lives under the care of his mother Marina [Eleanor Noble]. When Katak's grandmother [Ginette Reno] appears to be dying, Katak decides to embark on a dangerous journey alone to prove his independence. Moreover, if he can find his grandfather [Richard M. Dumont] in 'The Great North', he can fulfill Grandma's last wish and perhaps also make contact with other belugas that his family can join. Along the way he encounters various animals, including Jack-Lynn [Angela Galuppo], the daughter of the feared orca Jack-Knife [Terrence Scammel]. Adult viewers know that the story is certainly not original and will not be impressed by the lack of detail in the animation, but for the youthful target group this is a pleasant pastime that radiates a bit more tranquility than the sometimes hectic animated films from Pixar/ Disney ed
