"For Howard, things are about to get R'lyeh crazy."
With his mother, young Howard Lovecraft visits his father Winfield Lovecraft, who is a patient at a sanatorium. During the visit, Howard's father has an anxiety attack in which he asks Howard in an incoherent plea to destroy the book 'Necronomicon', of which he is the author. Back home and impressed, Howard obtains the book in question. Instead of destroying the book, he begins to read the book and accidentally casts a spell from the book out loud, after which he finds himself in a dark world full of magic and strange creatures. A curse puts this world in a permanent ice age. To return home, Howard must battle the evil forces that perpetuate the curse.
