Gekijouban Violet Evergarden plot
Violet Evergarden is a retired soldier who has always been treated like a weapon. When forced to integrate into civilian life after losing her arms in battle, she goes to work as an Auto Memory Doll - someone who helps others write letters. She tries to learn how to understand human feelings, in particular a phrase her supposedly dead Major, Gilbert Bougainvillea, said to her: "I love you."
