Gantz: O plot
There is a room somewhere in Tokyo. There is a black sphere in this room. Every now and then people who should have died are taken to this room. The orb gives them special equipment and weapons with the order to kill all aliens on Earth. These missions are deadly and few survive the assignment. This time an anime, which I like much better. This is also the best of the three. The first live action was also worth it, the second movie (Perfect Answer) was a miss and I didn't think it was worth a whistle (too much blablabla). This immediately puts everything right again. The anti-alien squad is once again deployed to Osaka to take out an über alien. This gives rise to a lot of action, surrealistic creatures and a portion of horror. Straightforward popcorn entertainment. Of course a wafer-thin and sterile story and a silly romantic plot in between to still have a minimum of content, but it would actually be a bit undeserved to judge a film like this on this. The animation style, leaning heavily on motion capture, looks super realistic. Watch this for the action and the action alone and forget about all the rest... Hopefully there will be more anime movies from this.

Crazy, I thought I wrote a piece here last month, but neither my piece nor my vote were there.
Anyway, nice movie. Visually beautiful at times, fine monster design and the action is well put together. The story is less interesting and the film does not really develop; the monsters get a bit bigger, but otherwise it is mainly a succession of fairly similar scenes. So in the long run, the film is no longer completely fascinating, although the last minute is not necessarily worse than the first. 3.0*.

But I'm going to be strict, because it really didn't take much to make this a winner. Okay, maybe also hire a competent script writer, but you can also just drop that whole subplot with those ladies. Just focus on what matters: The gory action. Now the two ladies "Don't do it or you're going to die noooooooooooooo" annoyed me immensely... Yes, that's the whole point hat! And let's ignore the fact that they just met 5 minutes ago.
Now I could have turned a blind eye to it if they had just put a decent end to it, but no, that too had to be given an emotional sauce. And that's a shame, because as said before, the creature design is really great (a rolling head is fantastic anyway). The fights are also done really cool, nice kills and enough gore could have made this all delicious. I can still handle a half-cooked subplot, but that one girl goes straight into my top 10 most annoying movie characters.
