When Men Desire plot
After the United States declared war on Germany in 1917, American citizens within Germany, such as Marie Lohr, who was visiting her uncle, Professor Lohr, in Strasbourg, scrambled to obtain passports and leave the country. Major von Rohn, a powerful officer in the German army, however, desired her as a companion, noting that German officers were allowed any woman they liked during wartime. Marie's American pilot's love, Robert Stedman, had arrived in Switzerland, and Marie tried to keep von Rohn at a respectful distance. She escaped a dangerous situation when, during a mission, Stedman accidentally dropped a bomb on a house, apparently killing the German officer.
