The Treasure of the Sea plot

Believing that Margaret Elkins would marry him if they were of the same financial status, Henry Ames abuses his power of attorney and ruins the young woman's father, Thomas Elkins. Believing Jim Hardwick to be responsible, Margaret seeks him out on the Pacific coast, and while she is plotting her revenge, he falls in love with her. Then a fierce sandstorm breaks out, uncovering a shipwreck. The wreck also happens to contain treasure.
