The Palm Beach Girl plot

Emily Bennett arrives in Palm Beach by train. She sticks her head out the window and her face is then covered in black coal stains from the smoke from the locomotive. Emily is mistaken for a negress, embarrassing her aunts Jerry and Beatrice, who hope to join the Palm Beach social class. A little later, Emily is unable to impress playboy Jack Trotter because she clumsily performs the dedication of his motorboat.
