The Golden Mistress plot

Ann, the daughter of Haiti itinerant freebooter Carl Dexter, brings a gold ornament her father stole for her at a voodoo ceremony to Bill Buchanan. Bill is known in Haiti as a treasure hunter. Bill agrees to accompany Ann in the search for the treasure the ornament is part of after a native friend gives him some information about voodoo and other secret rituals. Through an underwater passage, Ann and Bill end up on an island off the Haitian coast, where they encounter the primitive Pagan tribe, whose tribesmen show great interest in Ann.
