The Gentleman from Indiana plot

"THE BIG HIT OF THE YEAR!"

Successful athlete John Harkless wants to enter Indiana politics. He buys a loss-making newspaper and uses it to expose crime and corruption scandals. One evening on his way home, he is attacked by a crime gang, who leaves him for dead. Rumor has it that John has been murdered and to avenge his death, a group of supporters organizes a manhunt to catch the perpetrators. While John is in hospital, his girlfriend Helen takes over the running of the newspaper. She thinks of a way to make him win the election.
