Dorothy Rogers is the daughter of banker William Rogers. William mysteriously disappeared while reading the novel 'The Fatal Warning'. William was charged with forcing back $100,000 in cash. Dorothy then hires private investigator Russell Thorne to clear her father's good name. Thorne faces multiple suspects: bank president John Harmon, office clerk Mullins, butler Dawson, femme-fatal Marie Jordan, and several other nefarious types.
