The Bright Shawl plot
This film tells the story of the failed revolution in Cuba around 1850. Andre Escobar (George Beranger) takes his wealthy American friend Charles Abbott (Richard Barthelmess) to Cuba. When Abbott sees how the Cubans are treated by the Spaniards, he is eager to help them in their struggle for freedom. With the help of a Spanish dancer, La Clavel (Dorothy Gish), he tries to gather information about the Spanish occupiers. All goes well until Spanish Captain Cesar Y Santacilla gets suspicious and sets up a trap to catch both Abbott and La Clavel.
