Rondini in Volo plot
Elena is the widow of Italian Air Force Captain Baldini. She lives with her son in a house on the edge of an area that has been abandoned by the Air Force. One day, a military plane, piloted by a former comrade of Baldini, has to make an emergency landing at this airport. Elena is confused by this and asks the pilot for information about the cause of death of her husband, who has been presented to her. Back in town, the pilot tells his former superiors, colleagues and Don Leoni, the former chaplain of Baldini's squadron, what he went through. The pilot also tells that the abandoned airport is about to be sold to an agricultural cooperative. They decide to use the airport again, but as a training ground for young aviation students. A young officer and very young students start building a glider. However, the students go after the local girls in their spare time. Angry farmers from the local agricultural cooperatives then try to set fire to a glider that has just been completed.
