France 1774, the country is plunged into social and political chaos. Maximilian Robespierre therefore wants to seize power, although this is at the expense of the helpless population. Charles D'Aubigny, a resistance fighter, poses as a murderer hired by Robespierre to evade the secret police.

Good film that revolves around a black book full of names of people who are on a death list. The film is set during the French Revolution and despite the fact that just about every character has a double agenda, the plot never gets too complicated. The film focuses more on suspense, action and adventure and is therefore entertaining from start to finish.

Everything is being done here to put Robespierre in a bad light. Even the house cat gets a kick from the incorruptible one. Funny because Robespierre was sometimes compared to a cat because of his graceful way of speaking and elegant demeanor.
