The Cold Heart of a Killer plot

Just days before the start of the annual Iditarod Trail, a sled dog race, favorite Robb Pierce dies in a tragic accident. His half-sister Jessie Arnold is willing to take his place, but mainly for financial reasons because she does not want to lose custody of her 12-year-old son Matt to her ex-husband. In addition, she has a trauma from a previous race, where she lost and almost died. Shortly after the start of the race, Iditarod veteran George Koper dies. When later on, Ginny Kline, another favorite, dies in obscure circumstances, Jessie fears the worst.
