Moby Dick plot

"From the immortal adventure classic...of whaling men, their ships, and the sea!"

Ishmael wants more adventure in his life. He wants to go with a whaler. At a small bar in Nantucket, he comes into contact with Queequeg, a fully tattooed man who turns out to be a harpoonist. Queequeg befriends him and together they decide to board the Pequod. This ship has a very special captain. They soon notice that when they are on the road. Captain Ahab barely shows up. When he finally comes on deck, it turns out that he looks quite battered. He has a wooden leg and his face is scarred. The crew soon finds out whose fault it is, namely the very large and legendary white whale Moby Dick. Everyone knows he can't be caught and he's deadly. However, Ahab is determined to get him. He wants revenge.

Charming language.

The authentic language is charming and Peck plays a possessed whale hunter with verve, but the film is a bit bit by the infamous time setting. Some scenes are a bit clumsy and the film also has a somewhat long running time. Nevertheless, this classic is still worth checking out. Especially when one of the hunters foresees his own death, the film experiences an exciting climax. The final confrontation may also still be there.

Good.

well it's an old movie and in the beginning there is quite a bit of yoohoo yoohoo and horlebeep

but in the end the sea is chosen and the adventure of captain begins

Ahab and his fanaticism on the hunt for Moby Dick

it must have been something all in 1956, but now...

oh nice images and I know a little bit more about the story, after all the book is there

unread on the shelf for years

3.5

Moby Dick must have been quite the spectacle in the 1950s, but now it seems rather outdated. The pompous dialogues, including the continuously present Christian undertone, don't exactly help either. Only the whale Moby Dick itself is worth seeing. With Jaws and all its technical challenges in mind, this also looked relatively good. The fight against him at the end of the film is therefore the highlight.
