Meet Me at Dawn plot

Paris, the beginning of the twentieth century. Charles Morton is a professional duelist hired by politicians to challenge an important senator. To get the challenge off the ground, Charles pretends to have a fight with Gabrielle Vermorel, a young woman whose father runs the local newspaper. After the story of the challenge gets around, Gabrielle is dubbed 'Madame X' by his newspaper and is after her identity. When Charles and Gabrielle really fall for each other, Charles gets in trouble with her father, whom he accidentally offended.
