Le Rat d'Amérique plot

A destitute Frenchman joins his wealthy family in Paraguay, who want nothing to do with him. Out of financial distress, he becomes a weapons smuggler for revolutionaries and has to flee with his beloved to Bolivia and then to Chile, where all his ventures go horribly wrong, until gambling profits allow him to return to France.
