Le Poil de la Bête plot
The film is set in 1665 in New France, when part of Canada was colonized by France. Joseph Côté escapes from prison to escape his death sentence. Hot on the heels of soldiers, he assumes the identity of a Jesuit and resides in Beaufort, where most of the men wait for French women to be sent to Canada to find a husband. At night, Joseph discovers that there are werewolves terrorizing the city and things get a lot more complicated when he falls in love with Marie Labotte, a woman no one wants to marry. Joseph tries to protect his life as well as Marie's and will have to fight the werewolves.
