Jean Galmot, Aventurier plot

1906. Journalist Jean Galmot goes into the jungle in French Guiana to search for gold in an abandoned mine. After six months of toiling in vain, he becomes a rich man. The white elite would rather see him go than come, especially if he also makes a strong case for the colored population. When Galmot starts producing rum on his plantations, they see their chance to bother him.
