Isobel or The Trail's End plot
"The coming of "Little Mystery" is one of the most dramatic moments in the history of the screen"
In retaliation for an attack on his wife Isobel, Scottie Dean, a passenger on a whaling ship, throws Captain Jim Blake overboard and, believing he is responsible for the captain's death, flees to the North Woods for safety. Sergeant William MacVeigh is assigned to track down Dean and is closing in on his prey when he encounters Isobel pulling a sled allegedly containing her husband's coffin and, captivated by her beauty, accidentally allows the couple to escape. An enemy of MacVeigh's, Corporal Bucky Smith, insists that the sergeant violated his oath and vows to get Dean himself, forcing MacVeigh to arrest Dean to save Isobel.
