God's Country and the Law plot

'Poleon and his daughter Oachi live a quiet life in the North Woods, as do their neighbors, André and Marie Beauvais. Doré, a vicious whiskey messenger on the run from the Northwest Mounted Police, is welcomed by 'Poleon, but when he turns his attention to Oachi, her father chases him away. He is then welcomed into André and Marie's cabin, which sets a series of events in motion.
