Archaeologist Nicolas Cramer travels to Edinburgh to deliver a lecture. He takes his children with him because he immediately wants to go on holiday afterwards. When a valuable item is stolen and shows up in Cramer's room, he flees to the north of Scotland with the children and their nanny Kathleen.
