American Jim Warburton crashes his plane in the jungle of the Amazon. He and his passengers are rescued by the mysterious Christine Ridgeway. Jim immediately falls in love with Christine, but she flees his advances by traveling to Rio de Janeiro. dr. Karen Lawrence thinks Christine has a reason for disappearing so suddenly, and she and Jim travel after her. In a restaurant in Rio, they see Christine being greeted by Sebastian Ortega. Christine starts to scream and then faints. Christine subsequently remains ill for a long time. Ortega tells Karen and Jim that he thought he had run into Christine's mother at the restaurant, whom he met long ago on her honeymoon. At that time, Mrs. Ridgeway saved her husband from a panther attack, right in the area where Jim's plane crashed.
