Unbelievable, what an action and what tough guys. This was quite an entertaining pastime: unfortunately of not too high quality. But I didn't expect that when I started this. The acting talents were also mediocre, perhaps with the exception of Patrick (Rome). There was some well-meaning humor here and there, but it definitely didn't get through. The best thing about this film was the citation of a good film, namely Deliverance (1972). From this film you could even hear a part of the famous Dueling Banjos.

haha.

I read a review that described that every viewer sometimes needs a cheeseburger instead of neatly sorted meals. The Marine is indeed reminiscent of that. Among the films that always want to add innovative elements, this one comes with refreshing simplicity.

A recipe that has been used many times in film. Ex-soldier goes after his kidnapped girlfriend and does everything to save her. It's an ideal concept for a real macho movie. Where these kinds of films normally often suffer from a director who does not want to go all-the-way, The Marine with its simple content turns out to be a nicer variant. So pretty straight forward.

Explosions, lots of bullets, lots of chases and lots of fights. Everything you would expect from an average action movie with a clunky story is in it. And it still manages to follow each other quite nicely, thanks to director Bonito's good sense of action. In terms of editing, each scene follows each other nicely and the tempo is never let go after a while.

Given that The Marine is also quite short, I can wholeheartedly recommend the film to those who don't feel like thinking for a while, but just want to watch clunky, exaggerated explosions. In terms of logic, the film doesn't make any sense, the acting isn't great and you will certainly not find any surprises, but if you can look around a bit, you can expect some bombastic popcorn entertainment.

Rewatched part 1 again today, still a wonderful over the top action film,

this time the 1st part in the city and halfway through a very good part in the woods, lots of fights and explosions and a nice role for the ''Terminator'' actor.

Also a great & spectacular ending!

On to part 2 for a review.
