The Life of General Villa plot
Film about the life of Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa. Villa himself stars in this film, which was produced by DW Griffith and shot on location by Raoul Walsh while the revolution was still in full swing. The film tells the story of the Mexican Revolution of 1910. An uprising against dictator Diaz culminated in a protracted civil war, in which various factions fought for control of Mexico. After several short-lived seizures of power, Victoriano Huerta became Mexico's leader in 1913. opposition leader Venustiano Carranza in response formed the constitutionalist army, which Pancho Villa joined as general. Thanks to Pancho Villa's military successes, the constitutionalists finally overthrow the Huerta dictatorship.
