Here I go again with my bad taste, because I find this to be a very entertaining film. Two Vietnam veterans have become best friends. One of the men (of course the negro) is severely beaten up by members of a street gang in a hilarious (action) scene in which they try to set a new standard for overacting. His friend does not tolerate this and decides to go after those responsible and at the same time tackle crime in the city. This to the displeasure of the local mafia boss (complete with bad Italian accent) and other powerful people. The action is nicely over-the-top and the effects still look pretty good for a film like this. The characters and acting performances are almost hilarious and it is therefore better not to take this film too seriously. Fine film for an evening of bad entertainment if you ask me.

Super cool revenge film in which Robert Ginty, with the look of a good family man, in a gruesome way settles accounts with the walking street filth of filthy, grimy New York. The streets littered with homeless people, prostitutes and all sorts of shady characters are a wonderful stage for all these vigilante enterprises. The absolute highlight is the settlement with the pedosexual whoremonger, while one of his victims looks on screaming and the owner of that rotten hovel lies a room away, smoldering from his heated death. Beautiful opening and closing titles that are accompanied by fitting music and let the images of New York do the work.

Cool movie with just a few too many flaws here and there to be truly memorable.

The opening scene is really exceptionally strong, including a surprising, very graphic and exceptionally well-executed decapitation. Yes, then you've got me. Unfortunately, that also creates very high expectations for the rest of the film, and it doesn't always live up to them.

New York late 70's was a dump and the perfect setting for a movie like this. Dirty, grimy and criminal. In that respect The Exterminator reminds me a lot of Combat Shock (although that movie is in my opinion much better).

The revenges are sometimes gripping, sometimes certainly not. It could have been a bit more graphic at times. The story jumps around a bit and that feeling is partly supported by very bad editing. Still, it remains quite captivating because of the dirty atmosphere. The ending may feel a bit rushed, but I could handle it.

Not a top film (again, watch Combat Shock if you want to see the improved version of this film), but quite entertaining. Unfortunately, it can't surpass the excellent opening scene.

By the way, one of the gang members already looked familiar to me with his animalistic appearance, but that was Irwin Keyes who had a role in Captain Spaulding's haunted house in Rob Zombie's horror hit House of 1000 Corpses
