Normally I don't like movies in which game-like adventures play a central role. But to my own surprise, I had a great time with this film. The exuberant presence of female beauty probably plays an important role in my appreciation. Anyway, Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Vanessa Hudgens, Jena Malone, Jamie Chung and of course Carla Gugino gave me a nice afternoon.

Tired after a long day at work, I didn't feel like watching a difficult or subtle film. I was more ready for simple, bite-sized spectacle. And that's exactly what Sucker Punch brought me. Although this action lick with its semi-poetic posturing sometimes seems to pretend to be more. But with the depth and coherence of an average video clip, there is not much to be gained in the field of storytelling. But that doesn't matter at all. Because the wonderful soundtrack that accompanies the beautiful images as you stare at one beautifully filmed action scene after another, make this over-the-top film a great pastime. Everything is beautiful about this movie, from the lead actresses to the sets to the CGI. The only real downside I personally found is that the film makes a very sharp turn from a positive vibe to a huge negative one. A happier ending would have suited me better. But despite the many bad reviews from sour reviewers who take themselves and their profession way too seriously, I thoroughly enjoyed this crazy ride.

Eye candy, adult male fantasy...these are spot on comments as far as I'm concerned. Well thought out by Snyder? It will be, in itself it can be called a separate thing, the flight from reality to a fantasy, where then there is another flight to the next fantasy. It all happens just as suddenly and very easily. The deeper layer remains incomprehensible to me or otherwise far-fetched. For example, Baby Doll would not exist and only a fantasy of one of the sisters and the film would have a pr-feminist message. It will actually all. I actually like Snyder's style and I also like a hazy film that you have to think about carefully, but this was all a bit too much of a stick...

Well, it must be said that there is more than enough to see, especially for men who appreciate a good view. Baby Doll with her high heels, high stockings and short skirt is in that sense a feast for the eyes, especially in the temple. The other ladies can of course also be there and Gugino of course. Furthermore, the action scenes look phenomenal, also remind me of various games such as Painkiller and Wolfenstein, in general beautiful imagery and style. That this is the same man of 300 and Watchmen you can immediately see, those colors and style are unmistakable. Then finally the completely separate soundtrack consisting of fine songs but which are often covered by the cast themselves. I think only Bjork was originally used.

Final verdict: plenty to see, beautiful style, a lot of feminine beauty and sometimes titillating, great soundtrack and admittedly over the top but entertaining action. Story apart, but depth .... well ...
