Salambò plot
Mercenary troops, defrauded by the city council of Carthage, revolt. The city seems powerless against an attack of barbarians, who are nevertheless defeated by the townspeople. An army commander, who has fallen in love with the priestess of the war goddess, is pardoned while the corrupt schemers are exposed.
