Mediocre film about a number of students who manage to escape when their city comes under attack. Not exactly credible all and the acting is not everything. In addition, the overall tone is too serious which actually makes it quite laughable. Enough action including some big explosions.

Own collection...

Before they invaded Ukraine, the Russians did the same in the US in Red Dawn. Pretty silly film actually, in which a group of young people hide for months in the mountains and resist the occupiers. However, it's far too cheesy and steeped in sickening patriotism to be good... There's no elaborate idea behind it, lots of skirmishes back and forth which makes the film monotonous, the occupying forces take little shape and there seems to be no clear motivation for it. their invasion. Also looks more like an episode from a TV series, and maybe that would have worked better as a TV series too. Wonder why I ever bought this movie on DVD. As an adventure movie for teenagers, it can still work.

After a disastrous grain harvest, the Soviet Union invades Poland and communists from Cuba and Nicarague invade Hodurs and El Salvador. The revolution breaks out in Mexico, the Greens in West Germany want to remove nuclear weapons in Europe, and NATO is falling apart. The US is therefore on its own. So much for the first 40 seconds of this melancholy propaganda film in which Russian paratroopers land in a desert town and a group of teenagers decide to fight back. “Boys! Avenge me! Avenge me!", Harry Dean Stanton roars in front of a group of civilians who put in "America The Beautiful" before a Russian firing squad riddles them with bullets. Pro-guns, pro-nuclear missiles, and anti-immigration, this is the Reagan doctrine incarnate that still escapes the minds of a significant portion of the American population to this day. Compared to “Triumph of the Will” by some miscreants, but I lean more towards “Jud Süss”. Disgusting, but fascinating for the mix of respected veterans and up-and-coming talent in the cast.
