Pretty rough western, in which in principle not too much happens. What is therefore given a lot of attention is the atmosphere, which is certainly creditably reproduced, beautiful music too. But hey, that Hillcoat isn't Sergio Leone and you never really get carried away by it.

Small 3 stars.

Cool movie. Instead of just close ups of taciturn heads, words come out here, and it doesn't stop at posing tough but they really are, especially Arthur Burns. It's a pity that he is so rarely discussed, in my opinion more time could have been invested. The Aboriginals give it that typical Australian atmosphere, but I'm not really overwhelmed by Guy Pierce.

Beautiful images and a very good soundtrack indeed. The story lacks some impact but is nice and straight forward and has nice dialogues (a bit too often poetic). In that respect and in terms of atmosphere/music, The Propisition does exactly what I hoped and expected with True Grit.

To be honest this film started for a third time this week. I fell asleep every time, although in the beginning I was not sure whether it was due to fatigue or the plot. Possibly both, but it didn't escape my attention that I didn't find the plot interesting. So little happens - and that in itself doesn't bother me - but I didn't find any line in the plot. It seemed very incoherent and awkward to me.

Apart from the approach, also substantive but a bizarre story as if they wanted to take too much on the fork with subplots and various characters that offered little added value. What did offer added value were the beautiful images with occasionally beautiful shots.

Not a film that blew me away, rather bored me. Shame, clearly expected a lot more.
