Point Blank plot

"It's Not Just Another Day at the Mall"

Former police officer Rudy Ray (Rourke) leads a secluded life. His quiet life is over when seven inmates escape from prison and take a packed shopping center hostage. One of the escapees is Rudy's very own brother Joe, with whom he has always been at odds. Now they face each other, perhaps for the last time.

Point Blank is such a unique film that manages to be so incredibly wrong and yet just right. The characters and casting match very well in this. Very high entertainment value this film.

Exploitation 90's. What else can you call a movie where latino trash Danny Trejo forces a woman to suck the barrel of his gun? What else can you call a movie where Trejo shoots an innocent civilian in the back with a smile?

I think it's a very mediocreDie Hard ripoff, in which a mercenary breaks into a mall to save his criminal brother. In one scene you even hear a Christmas tune while the film probably isn't even set around Christmas. But Die Hard did it, so it should be done here too. But comparing it to Die Hard is actually an insult to Die Hard itself.

Rourke in a zero out of ten performance. The only one who saves the film is Trejo as a deranged nutcase, now with coke up his nose, now with a bunch of colored paint all over him, and now shouting "Bruce fucking Lee" as he pumps his bullet chambers empty on Rourke... and misses.

Watched it today on Blu-ray (German edition) and enjoyed it, although I sometimes had trouble getting through it.

Quiet scenes alternate with hard action scenes with lots of blood and bullets.

I thought it was a rather strange film with a leading role for Danny Trejo.

The story was very thin, the action was hard and there was also strange music underneath, the film sometimes seemed slow.

All in all, a rather strange action film, not good, but not bad either.
