Yeah.

What can you say? Outcast is a B-movie in every sense. That makes you more likely to forgive some things, or more likely to go along with the nonsense. But that doesn't mean it makes something bad okay.

Lots of messy situations. Both in the script and the camerawork, for example. The action scenes are pathetic. Fortunately, sometimes they're still so over-the-top that they're funny, for example Cage's death scene.

Hayden Christensen and Nicolas Cage are equals when it comes to overacting, though one is more subtle than the other.

Nicolas Cage is relegated to a comical afterthought in this unremarkable action film set in the Middle Ages. Director Nick Powell does everything he can to create a sense of interest in his constructed world, but he achieves little more than a confusing hodgepodge of ideas and cultures that never convincingly mesh. Fortunately, the more explosive moments are solid, and Hayden Christensen makes a decent lead, but Outcast takes an unusually long time for anything noteworthy to happen. The 98-minute running time thus quickly wears down to a forgettable final result, which does deserve praise for its energetic and active camerawork.
