Ledokol plot
The icebreaker Mikhail Somov makes its way through the polar ice of Antarctica in 1985 to deliver food and fuel to a Russian station. The journey is far from an easy one, as the team heads straight for a huge iceberg over a hundred meters. Captain Petrov manages to dodge the monster, but the ship drifts off course and gets stuck in the ice. Only the Moscow bureaucracy is authorized to help them out of trouble, but unfortunately they are not very efficient. Help is delayed. Meanwhile, the ice eats into the boat, the food reserves dwindle and the fuel is burned to keep the crew warm. This reduces the chance that they will ever get away on their own.
