Short but sweet original Western. The cast that is deployed here is not the least and Michael Fassbender as bad guy with his ta moko is a joy to watch. Josh Brolin is the ideal man to carry this film. Everything is right and the short playing time certainly contributes to this. Video to entertain you immensely.

They have put a lot of scissors in this western with paranormal elements that is based on one of the lesser known DC Comics. At the beginning there is an animated sequence where Jonah Hex [Josh Brolin] tells what happened to his family, as well as the role of Quentin Turnbull [John Malkovich]. Otherwise, however, this is a mess, in fact little more than an accumulation of poorly edited shootings, with a boring metal score. There is no characterization in this flop, which could possibly be spiced up in a director's cut. However, I have a dark brown suspicion that I will not warm to that.

Nice film though, with a nice rough Brolin, nice roll from Fox, reasonable decoration, occasionally nice things in between, fine gritty guitar music and in terms of western atmosphere and action quite decent. The final was a bit disappointing, but as a whole I had a great time and with 80 minutes you don't really have time to get bored.
