Spectacular film about a disaster that unfolds when an unknown, highly aggressive variant of bird flu emerges in a major city. Panic not only among the population, but at least as severe among the authorities.

Director Sung-su Kim goes in with heavy artillery, literally and figuratively. It results in shocking images and makes the film suspenseful. A remarkable performance by the tiny Min-ah Park, who truly steals the show.

The Flu.... yeah, of course it can get even worse than corona at the moment.

Refugees in containers bring a dangerous mutated bird flu to South Korea; one of the refugees survives the trip and flees into the city. Meanwhile, the virus spreads rapidly among the population, and the victims die very quickly from it. Panic ensues, and the government acts hastily and fails to listen to the right people. When the full truth comes to light, only pure chaos remains. This fascinating premise is skillfully portrayed, and constant tension is present. You have to accept the occasional melodrama and humor, but that is also characteristic of the culture. The humor, which is particularly present at the beginning, is certainly not disruptive.

Good performances, especially the girl came across convincingly. Fine film with a fitting subject for this corona period. 8/10

Mediocrity, although the first hour, when the epidemic is spreading, was presented quite well. At times, you could almost call it prophetic. Hoarding, face masks, a mutated bird flu virus, local lockdown. It sounds all too familiar by now. After that, it becomes exaggerated, and the events in the quarantine camp were significantly less impressive. The finale is one big melodramatic show of tension and drama, pitting political agendas against humanitarian feelings. The girl Mi-Reu is the central figure of the film. For a truly good outbreak film, I still think you have to turn to Soderbergh's "Contagion."
