"He's back in New York bringing justice to the streets..."
Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) goes to New York to visit a friend. When he arrives, it turns out that his friend has been murdered. When the police arrive and find Kersey near the corpse with a gun in his hand, he is arrested and taken to the station. There the inspector recognizes him from past events. Kersey is released to go after the gangs responsible for his friend's death, led by this inspector, and terrorize the entire city.

My friend Wildey's coming... he'll help out !
The best of the series. That's not to say the best; it's all very simple, but for such films I prefer different standards than "weak story" or "poor acting". Like Death Wish 2 and other Cannon films, it's more about the entertainment factor, and the film succeeds in that. Bronson is nice and dry, the local residents see in him a hero who comes to free them from the scum. Quite a bit of humor too: I've picked up some ideas myself to stop burglars and I'm indeed thinking of hammering in the plank with nails that you place in front of the window 
The ending is wrong and over the top .
I also think the film is extremely topical, with the recent riots in Brussels in mind: the police who are absent and late, and when they are there they prefer to harass the good citizens. Nothing has changed in 30 years.

Reasonable film in which a neighborhood is ravaged by a criminal gang that doesn't shrink from anyone. This third part contains quite a bit more humor (both intentional and unintentional). Also, the revenge element is almost gone. Still quite entertaining, especially during the action-packed finale in which the film is more like a war movie.
