Bon Cop, Bad Cop plot

"Shoot First Translate Later"

A body is found on the border of French-speaking and Anglophone Canada. Police argue for a moment over who should get the case, as the head of the corpse is in Quebec and the feet in Ontario. A decision is made to make it a joint case and so it is that two detectives are tasked with solving the murder: David Bouchar, a rude 'French' bum who has no respect for rules and procedures, and Martin Ward, a the dyed-in-the-wool 'straight cop' who does everything by the book and only uses violence when there is absolutely no other option.

A hackneyed concept, but one that has been given a fun twist. As far as the action and humor are concerned, the film might be a bit disappointing, but the fast pace and great look make up for a lot.

Meager.

No one really managed to make an impression. Patrick Huard, in particular, came across as very monotonous, and I actually always find such a stony face a shame.
The whole thing is reasonably well-executed with the right lighting, good camera angles, and fine editing, but it fails to impress anywhere. That is simply due to the boring plot and the ending that you see coming from 347 kilometers away.
I thought the in the studio scene made no sense at all, and that presenter's behavior was quite strange too. And I didn't really get the part with those weed plants... apparently they got high while the whole place was on fire.

Forgotten again in no time.

A fun action comedy that opens somewhat like the series The Bridge, with a body located on both sides of a border (did the Scandinavians get their inspiration from here?). I also immediately found this to be just about the most entertaining scene in the entire film. In this case, not a Swedish-Danish duo, but an English and French-speaking Canadian duo setting out to investigate.

I'm not so keen on the the language issue at ice hockey clubs theme, which definitely costs this film half a star for me. Otherwise, it was certainly funny at times despite being a bit loud. It also had slight Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown vibes. Or even Wrong Cops (2013) flair. And musically, it was certainly entertaining.
