"Leaders are born from survival"
The story is set in Europe 20,000 years ago, during the Paleolithic, the last ice age. A brave young man takes part in a hunt, but things go wrong and he is left alone. He must travel through dangerous and inhospitable nature to find his tribe again. It will be a life and death struggle for survival.

Beautiful film in a very interesting setting. The landscapes are to dream away. The camera work is nice. I'm a bit critical of one scene that's double in the film, stuffing. Also saw it in the last episode of The Haunting of Hill House. Hopefully this is just a coincidence and not a new trend.
Furthermore, you can indeed have your reservations and criticize mainly the clothing of the hunters. I don't think it's so noticeable that it bothers you. The relationship between humans and animals is built up wonderfully here and although the story is not spectacular, it has become a simple but beautiful film. Excellent viewing material for people who like history in general or who like to watch heroic survival.

Nice film about a boy who goes hunting big game for the first time. The film is set during the last ice age. The often somewhat artificial nature/environment gives the film its own look and plenty of beautiful pictures. The first part is a bit boring, but when the film focuses on the boy and his return home, it does get better.

Not that the movie is bad, but given the theme I expected a little more adventure. In terms of action images, it all remains a bit meager. The CGI images vary in level : the opening scene didn't look good, but luckily it got better afterwards. The wolf is quite okay and the landscapes usually look very nice. The action scenes, the looks of the people, the clothes.....well, that could have been a lot better. The story itself is not that much apart from the beautiful friendship between wolf and man. Certainly not bored, but given my predilection for these kinds of films, only a six.
