The first official trailer has been released for Kraven the Hunter, which is intended to be the fourth movie in Sony's Spider-Man Universe.
It will star Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the title role. He is no stranger to featuring in comic book movies, having played Kick-Ass on two occasions as well as Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Kick-Ass and Quicksilver are generally considered to be heroic characters, but Taylor-Johnson will be able to test his acting chops a little bit more when playing another comic book character in Kraven the Hunter.
In the new trailer, we discover how Sergei Kravinoff became Kraven the Hunter after mixing his blood with that of a lion that attacked him.
Russell Crowe plays his father, while Alessandro Nivola will play the movie's primary villain, Rhino.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Taylor-Johnson was asked about playing a variety of different roles, with Kraven the Hunter being a different task compared to Kick-Ass and Quicksilver.
"Absolutely. Like you said, I’m not here to play the same character twice," he responded.
"I, as a person, am naturally changing and evolving. New things inspire me, and you grow as a person. So I can only move forward and play things I haven’t done before. I like a challenge, and I like to step outside of my comfort zone, often. It’s more interesting to go from an indie to a blockbuster or whatever it may be. Some people like to go on holiday to the same place every year, but I like to explore different places. So there’s a lot that really excited me about the character of Kraven.
"Sometimes, these roles come about, and you have to truly believe in the character. You’re going to be in that skin for a while, and you have to believe in what you’re saying.
"So there was a lot about Kraven that I really loved, and I’m excited to share it at some point."
Within the Marvel comic books, Kraven is a big-game Hunter who sets his sights on Spider-Man, whom he describes as "the most dangerous game".
