Nia DaCosta contacted some of her fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe directors for advice after stressful days on the set of The Marvels.
The official premise for the movie reads:
'While investigating a wormhole linked to the Kree, Monica Rambeau's powers become entangled with those of Kamala Khan and Carol Danvers. The trio team up to determine why they are swapping places with each other every time they use their powers.'
Brie Larson reprises her role as Captain Marvel, with Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani featuring after appearances in WandaVision and Ms. Marvel respectively.
There is, naturally, a lot of pressure that comes from helming a Marvel movie, and DaCosta contacted the likes of James Gunn, Taika Waitii, Destin Daniel Cretton and Chloe Zhao for advice.
She had numerous questions for her colleagues, like:
“Are they (Marvel) going to kill me and destroy my soul? Is Kevin Feige a bad man?
“And they were like, ‘No, he’s just a good guy who was a nerd.’”
She explained to Vanity Fair: "Sometimes you’d be in a scene and you’d be like, ‘What the hell does any of this s*** mean?’ Or an actor’s looking at some crazy thing happening in space, and they’re looking at a blue X. There were obviously hard days, and days where you’re like, ‘This just isn’t working.'"
The main villain of the piece will be Dar-Benn, portrayed by Zawe Ashton. Judging from the trailer, Dar-Benn is looking for revenge on Carol Danvers for something in the past, and it is possible she is responsible for the power-shifting mess that our three heroes find themselves in.
